Something I'm learning:
My goodness. Where to begin? I've been intensely studying for our monthly discipleship call for our family of Revelation Wellness Fitness Instructor and Live Well Health Coaches and my free webinar next week for everyone, titled, "Why Do I Hate My Body? And What Can I Do About It?" ( The webinar is open to all, and I hope you will come!)
Register for webinar and get the replay.
My head is filled with ALL kinds of things about our life as bodies and our theology. If you poke me, I will explode joy and give you a ZEAL for the house of the Lord. I think what I'm learning most this week is this: God fiercely LOVES your body.
Whatever you do to your body, you do to Him.
Whatever you do with your body, you do with Him.
Instead of doing things TO your body, do things WITH Him.
There's no getting away from Him. Oh, how He loves us.
John 1 tells us that Jesus was there at the beginning when everything was made.
"He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made." John 1:2-3
He saw your body before you had form. You are His good idea. He saw your body as it took form. He loves your thighs, your belly, your laugh. He loves how you express the glory of God in a way ONLY you can. And man, oh man, does Satan (whose name means "adversary" or "opposer") hate you loving God WITH your body. Loving God with our bodies is serious warfare abasing our enemy.
If you want to practice fighting this embodied battle, don't forget to join me this Sunday night for the FREE Soulful Sunday Stretch class. Come find out just how much God loves your body as you settle it down in His presence. Bring all your hopes and fears. Mark your calendars so you don't miss. (Sorry, no replay available). Last Sunday was a rich time and I’m looking forward to more time together with you and Him this week.
This class will occur every Sunday at 7pm EST in January.

Something I'm loving:
I love connecting with all the people in Focus40 and hearing their stories of hope and change in just four short days! Most of it is in their perspective of health from the perspective of glorifying God with their bodies as the goal. It's what we were made to do. Once you decide to do that with your body, it tends to come with the initial inertia of the Holy Spirit, resulting in a feeling of ease. My favorite part is how, in just four short days, people are already seeing positive changes in their appetite.
The habit of paying attention to and prioritizing protein each day is proving to fill them up and keep their hunger at bay for longer than they've experienced in a long time. I've really enjoyed coaching them to pay attention to how these things feel in their body. How they physically feel is not much different than those who go on weight-loss drugs and report hunger going down and fullness up. However, people in Focus40 don't have the cost, side effects, or risk of taking medication.
There is a way to go through many of the health issues we face, and for many (but not all), it isn't as complicated as we think.
Focus40 is still available this week should you want to join.
Something I'm doing:
I've been forcing myself to push my focused physical movement time (what some people call a workout :) later in the day so I can get the HARD work done I need to do that tends to get pushed back when I workout first thing in the AM like I've been doing since I became a mom in 2001.
My kids have flown the nest, and I get to redesign my schedule to fit my current season. Now, I do not suggest this for people who know they need to spend focused time moving their bodies more. For me, daily focused time of movement is a built-in habit that rewards me. I love it. I know I will always make time to do it, but like a five-year-old who can easily get distracted or procrastinate hard work, I am forcing myself to do the harder things before the easier ones. For some of you, that harder task is to move more so you don't succumb to chornic illness and disease.
Doing the thing that comes with the most resistance, first thing in the morning, IS a habit-forming hack that I encourage anyone to do who readily gives in to the resistance that comes once your day is off and running and the busyness of life kicks in.
In case you're wondering, Hey Alisa, but what about the research that says after exercise is when our brains are most focused? W uldn't that be the time to do the hard focused work? This is where my walking pad comes in. Another thing I consistently love! I do my focused work while rocking my body back and forth, walking at a glacial pace, bilaterally simulating my brain as I think. It feels good, and I get some steps in, shortening my focused movement time later in the day should I need to. I'm on it right now. I've already walked two miles today just ambling about on this thing and doing some focused work.
Habit Forming Hack: Do the hard thing first thing.
Once the task is done, you will love the way you feel, and it will make the other things you need to do that day feel even more enjoyable because you stayed true to yourself. Not to mention, you have the evidence you can wave in the enemy's face that says, "I DO hard things!"
What hard thing do you need to do that needs to be pushed to first thing in the morning?
GOOD STUFF! Can't wait to get home and walk!
I have really enjoyed these Soulful Sunday Stretch and your teaching. I am about a year into menopause and have gained 20 lbs in the last two years. It is very frustrating to say the least. I am a RevFit instructor from P25, so I know that I am fearfully and wonderfully made — in my head. It feels like I don’t get it in my heart right now. I appreciate your perspective and love to continue learning as I try to loosen my grip on losing the weight. I’d love prayer that it becomes heart knowledge as well and that I realize this body doesn’t need to be fixed.
